Replacing an undermount sink?

My mom likes to put really heavy glass jugs of oil and potpourri and whatnot all over the place and on her granite counter tops.

The problem is if water gets under those jars they become a hockey puck as we just learned when our 2 year old bumped one and it slid across the granite and into the sink. It was a pretty big 'oh sh#t" moment and the sink has sat like that for a while. The hole in the sink is about as big as a softball.

Normally I try to DIY things like this but I have no clue how these undermounts are actually attached.

We have located the replacement sink but my question is whether this is doable for a novice or if we should hire it out. I have replaced drop in sinks but these seem like a completely different animal.

If it's recommended to hire it out, should I go to a handyman or a granite company or someone else? Any idea what the cost would/should be?

Thank you for any advice. So frustrating to see something so silly happen.

Epoxy and silicone caulk are used. The sink is held in place with metal anchors that are glued to the underside of the granite with epoxy. A bead of silicone caulk is then usually applied for further adhesion and to help with sealing.

Im sure it can be a DIY job depending on your comfort level.
