I know this is a simple process so I'm embarrassed to ask for help, but take a look at this light fixture. It's actually an adjustable cord that hangs (not a rigid cover and no chain). I will need to center this over my breakfast table by about 6 inches, but not sure how to do it when it's just a cord? Can anyone explain?

Pendant Light

Someone apparently did it easily, as here is a picture someone put on Home Depot of their installation, but I don't know what they did.

Home Depot sells a swag light kit for $18. I did the same thing this past weekend. I had bought a hard-wired pendant for my den without thinking about the fact that I have a vaulted ceiling (duh). I couldn't quite get to the location of the pendant from the attic, so I bought the swag kit and retired the light. Turned out great. The finish matched perfectly and it looks like it came that way from the factory. The kit is available in several finishes. Rewiring was simple and required nothing more than a screwdriver.

Edit: ok so I just re-read your post, and apparently I didn't read it very closely the first time (my bad). I followed your link and thought it was a pendant with the hard "tube" design. So what are you trying to do...just center it over the table?

Something like this...You need to create a loop in the cord that will hang and stay on the hook. Some fixtures come with a little plastic figure eight looking clip that can clip over the cord in two places, creating the hanging point. But I can't find a picture of that.
