In-line Water Filter

How long do you want to ignore this user?
During our current renovation, I've replumbed our whole house with PEX and included a 36-port manifold and would like to install an in-line water filter for both the stovetop pot filler faucet and the kitchen sink faucet for their hot water lines as well as the kitchen sink faucet and the fridge for their cold water lines.

Also trying to determine if I want to filter the entire house or just the above stated lines as I'm not really concerned with filtering the other lines since we don't drink out of them and would prefer to minimize the frequency of changing the filter(s) over time.

Any thoughts/recommendations would be greatly appreciated...

Call Moore Supply and ask them.

Thinking back to my Moore Supply days, so forgive me if part numbers aren't 100% accurate - they may have changed over the past few years.

Is there enough room to put an Aquapure 801 in front of the manifold? Filters aren't very expensive and last quite a while if your water isn't terrible. They take an Aquapure 810 filter - I could get replacements at Lowes, so I didn't have to go to supply houses to get them. Having one big one may be easier than multiple smaller units.

We had one in front of the water purifier at our green house to filter out the big chunks so they didn't get into the Cuno.

Yes, I have all kinds of room to install that whole house water filter system as that is a very reasonablly priced filtering system that I was definitely looking for! Thanks Gus!

I have a new construction house and installed a dual whole house filter system. I also installed a hot water filter, to catch the sediment from the WH (tankless).

I put a thread about it HERE.

Thanks DD. Looks like a nice set-up!

Does it work as well as you expected it to? How often do you have to flush the system and how often do you have to replace the filters?

I'm still on the original filters. You can notice some pressure drop when several large users are going at once ( shower and tub).

The charcoal does take out chlorine so I've had to clean the toilets more since nothing is there to stop mold and fungus growth. But with the 0.5 micron the water is actually really close to being biologically pure. In my old research lab 200 nanometer (0.2 micron) is what we used to make clean water.

The hot water filter I installed I clean about once every 6 months. You can see at the sediment that would collect in the faucets in the filter. But rinse it off and you are good to go again. I bought that on Amazon ( search hot water filter).

I've been meaning to pop open the main filters and see what it stopped. I know after I installed them they were flushing out our lines. In the past when they did that our water was brown for a day or so. Never saw any of that in the house.

BCS plumber Tim Bailey installed this whole house filter 3 years ago to rid chlorine smell and taste:

3M Aqua-Pure Whole House Water Filtration System - Model AP903

You can get it at Moore Supply.

We change the filter once every year and works well for us!

Thanks for all the inputs. Really appreciated.

Think I'm going to go with the 3M Aqua-Pure Whole House Filtration System, Model AP904.

3M Aqua-Pure AP904

Costs a little bit more but filters everything including inhibiting scale that usually effects build-up in water heaters.
