What Kind of Stone is This?

I'm trying to figure out what kind of stone is in these pictures. The first one I think is travertine with the holes sealed? The other two have the same material - the close up picture is a little washed out since it was near a window. Also it isn't polished smooth and glossy, maybe something where the finish is honed (or some other treatment?) It wasn't slippery at all when wet, these are the two materials I was thinking about using on the walls and floor in the bathroom (including the shower) but I need to know what I'm looking for.

edit: I'm also considering buying the stone from Build Direct if it's something they carry since local prices aren't great, even signed up as a contractor. Anyone have experience with them?

And the floor...

We looked at Build Direct for their flooring. We picked out one we liked and contacted them to order. That is when we found out they were going to charge us almost $1000 in shipping on a $3500 flooring order. It turns out that a lot of their stuff comes out of Canada and they expect you to pay for the shipping, although you won't find that anywhere on their website. Went with someone else and was much happier.

Good to know - I'll have to remember to cross-shop their shipping vs. others. If you have other sources I'm all ears. Local selection where I live is really bad.

I'd really like to find stone for the wall in 3/8" thickness if cost/weight savings will be significant.

Looks like travertine but could it be a ceramic product that's digitally printed?

The top or bottom? Both are stone for sure - I stayed at this place for about a week. It's in Puerto Vallarta and stone must be cheap over there because they use a lot of it.

The top one definitely looks like Travertine which is what I put in our front door and patio entryways as well as in front of the fireplace. Purchased it from Floors & Decor. We plan to install it in our master bathroom when I get to that phase of our reno.

Not sure about the floors pics as it looks like some kind of slate but not sure due to the quality of the pics.

Travertine is a porous stone so when you grout, the grout fills in the holes and imperfections in the stone leaving a nice characteristic look and when sealed with a good stone sealer, it slightly darkens the stone and provides an awesome looking finish. If you install it yourself or have someone do it for you, be sure to butter the backside with mortar to fill any cavities before trowling to get good overall coverage on the tile surface before setting the tile. Otherwise, you may end up with issues of it cracking overtime as one customer warned us about when we were looking at the tile. They had someone install 1,200 sqft of teavertine and had to remove and replace it all because the installer didn't butter the backside and they had numerous cracks over a short period of time.

I installed Travertine correctly in the entryway of our current house over 8 years ago and it looks as good as it did when it was first installed. We love it!
