How do I trap, kill, or keep armadillos away? My house backs up to a wooded area, so that's where they are coming from. They are killing everything in the flower beds by digging and even moving the the rocks that line the flower beds. it's not just my house, its pretty much all my neighbors too.

I finally had to tag a couple with a pellet gun. I tried everything else with no luck.

Find their path, put the trap against the wall and use fencing or 2x4s to guide them into the trap. If they hit a wall, they typically just keep sliding down it.

Tried everything. Early one morning on the way to work I actually ran over my problem in the middle of the street. This morning saw a really big one. I have heard the guide and trap method ^, so I guess I will try that on the new critter

They're basically blind, so above poster is correct, find the path they usually walk, or better yet, they probably have s burrow in one of the flower beds. Put trap there with the wood as a guide or funnel into the trap.

Go to HF and buy the cheap motion sensor with an alarm. Put the alarm next to your bed, and the sensor by the hole or the areas being torn up, when the armadillo sets off the sensor, go out with a light and means of extermination and take care of it.

I tried the guide and trap method for weeks with no success. Pellet gun worked first time. Hopefully you have better luck.

Looks like I have a cheap excuse to get a pellet gun!

When I first started having issues with armadillos wreaking havoc in our flowerbeds, I baited a couple traps as I was told by FIL and caught a couple of raccoons. Then I researched and found out about the funneling method where you have a barrier that guides them into the trap as mentioned above. I got some of this silt fencing at Home Depot and made a funnel of it in the yard. It works but you have the inconvenience of having that barrier in the way of mowing, walking around the lawn, etc.

Then I just bought some sub-sonic .22 LR rounds and started shooting them. Of course that means getting outside at odd hours of the night to catch them in the act. But since I fenced the back yard they don't come around much anymore.

.22 is the most effective method that I've found. I don't know much about them other than the fact that they must reproduce like rabbits. Destroy them all.

Do you have a lot of grubs in your flower bed and lawn? I think that is one of their primary food sources.
