Inlaws' driveway too steep at street

I'm no engineer but I've grown sick and tired of constantly bottoming my car or going through a 8.0 magnitude car shake everytime I pull in or out of my inlaws' driveway. The problem is the driveway is too steep where it connects to the street. Are there any improvement jobs to give a more level access point, perhaps that extends into the curb area but allows for drainage underneath?

I live in Huntsville and some of the people in my neighborhood have placed 2x6s in the gutter at the base of their driveway and some have also cold/blacktopped or used asphalt and placed a PVC pipe for drainage.

Not sure which is better but I have a steep driveway that caused the garage to be dropped 18" below the floor of the house and we just make sure we go at an angle (I have a truck and my wife has an Explorer)

The best fix isn't cheap. It would require ripping out and regrading the driveway and possibly a retaining wall to hold back the yard.

Otherwise quit channeling your inner ghetto and distich the lowrider.

Google driveway ramps. There are a ton or products like the one below:

Or, I have a neighbor who has some of these. They don't look awesome, but they work:

Wow, hope that house is not up north where it snows a lot. I live in Sherman, TX and watched my neighbor's truck slide out of his driveway (not near that slope) at night during an ice storm. He parked on the frozen driveway during the evening, and about midnight his truck slid out into the street just as I went outside to check on the weather/snowfall.

Bet the neighborhood kids with skateboards will love that driveway!

Our driveway was like that when they were building our house. The contractor never noticed because he was always in a truck. My little Nissan Altima would bottom out every time. I went and complained to the builder and he drove it in his Altima and said it wasn't doing it to him. I put him in the back seat of my car and showed him. I drive with kids in the back seat every day. I wasn't about to spend that much money on a house and have that happen every day for the next 20 years. We told him it was a deal breaker.

The next day they had the contractor ripping out the bottom 1/3 of the driveway and re-grading. It will still do it if I race out of the driveway, so it's a subtle reminder for me to slow down, but other than that, it's fine.
