I have a flameleaf sumac in my front yard that is starting to sucker from the base. I let one of them get about 8 to 10 inches tall before digging down and taking it off of the root.
I dipped the base of the cutting into root growth hormone powder and placed it in a pot with a mixture of soil and compost. I watered it thoroughly and placed a clear plastic bag over it to retain moisture.
I'm new to this root growth hormone thing, but I hear it's a wonderful tool to have. I want to do this with my mountain laurel also.
Did I do this correctly? Suggestions?
