Our son is six months old and we're trying to prepare our house for the mayhem he'll unleash once he starts walking. An obvious area of concern is our entertainment center which has low shelves holding our bluray player, roku and receiver.

I'd like to add some hinged glass doors to the section of the entertainment center but am unsure where to get the materials. I've tried to find a glass shop in my area that could make the pieces I'll need, but haven't found much. (I'm in Montgomery Co.)

I have a glass door on mine that I'm more afraid of my toddler falling through then messing with the stuff inside. That's just me though :/

I've just had luck cold calling glass/window shops for pieces.

Are you looking for someone to make the doors too? I presume you want overlapping/face frame doors? (not inset)

Hmm... Good point on the falling danger.

They wouldn't be very large panes, maybe a foot by a foot and a half of glass. And I was thinking of using the panes to make those frameless doors with the magnetic latches, but that may prove too difficult.

you are worried about your stuff getting messed up but not your kid falling into or throwing something that will break the glass?

I don't understand why glass doors are the solution here.

Sorry! Like I said, I hadn't thought of the glass door safety issue. I'm open to other solutions.

look at acryllic/plexiglass. More resistant to breaking, and in the long term when the kid is older, you can just put real glass in the same spot.

Same with our two year old. Other than occasionally hitting the power button on the reciever he really doesn't mess with it.

Tempered glass would work but I wouldn't go frameless as the first time it's left open is when they'll bust their head on it.

Would you consider something along the lines of wrought iron?

From past experience make sure that you anchor the top of it to keep it from tipping over.

Back when all the movies were VHS was when my son had fun seeing what else he could put in the opening. I finally started leaving a video in there.

I replaced a glass door in an antique cabinet a couple of weeks ago with plexiglass for safety reasons with grandkids.

Contemporary Plastics in NW Houston. $45 for 16"x46" You can't totally kid proof a home--but that is one place they won't hurt themselves.
