I'm doing some regrading on the sloped side yard of my house to create a raised planter against the slab of the house and a 4' wide crushed granite walking path next to the planter. The planter will be a dry stack stone planter about 18" above the existing grade and approximately 45'-50' long. As of right now I'm planning on using 4x6 or 6x6 cut limestone which vary from about 1.5' - 2.5' in length.

If anyone has done this before could you tell me how you built it? I've seen some stuff online but I want to make sure I do it right so I don't have to rebuild it down the road. Any advice is appreciated.

Here's a photo showing the side yard while we were removing the grass last weekend. The planter will be along the side of the house and the decomposed granite walkway will be next to it in line with the gate. The other side of the path will remain the natural grade but we plan to put down pea gravel or river rock and some drought tolerant plants.

Thanks for the link to the blog and for posting the photo. Not sure why I couldn't get it to post correctly.

This weekend I plan to level out the area for the walking path and start prepping the area for the first course of stone at the planter. Unfortunately our lot is on solid limestone with about 4" of dirt the builder put down before they installed the grass. I'm sure I'll be getting a lot of use out of the jack hammer.
