How do these brands of A/C compare with each other?

We are going to replace our entire system. I already have quotes from Malek and Barker's. Will be getting quotes from Mullinix (American Standard) and Advantage Air Systems (not sure what brand they offer).

Install guys also just as big as the type of system. Make sure you do your homework on the installers

What I find interesting is Trane is a spinoff from part of American Standard.

include Goodman in your analysis

Trane and American Standard are the same thing. Even the model numbers are the same, the only difference is the name tag.

The Goodman selection is great if you also prefer Yugos when car shopping.

I'd go Lennox, Trane/American Std., Carrier, York.

I might pick a Goodman before a swamp cooler, but that's not a guaranty.

Also, just as important as the equipment is the installer. You can buy a great system but have it installed by Larry, Moe, & Curly and end up with a lousy HVAC system.

Trane and American Standard roll off the same line with the difference being a bass boat metallic gray paint for one and flat green paint for the other.

Excuse me, but since my family has 3 A/C businesses and prefer Goodman I think you are wrong. Maybe it is, as you say, the installation... But Goodman is our choice by far...

I've got approximately 10 year old linux equipment in a 1982 brick house 2500 square feet and my electric bill is a max of $200 during the summer. As others have said installation is important. Some installers are bad about backward Ys and pinching off tubing on turns.

As a computer guy I approve of this a/c system.
