How long do you want to ignore this user?
I've got an annoying little (ie not tall) paml tree in the back yard that has to go. The trunk is only about 4 feet tall but it's got some pretty large leaves that are heavy and dangle the ground. It was there when we moved in a few months ago and I've hand enough of it.

Is this even doable on my own or am SOL and going to have to call a tree removal service?

If yours is like the sabal palms we have, the roots go WAY down. On the other hand, once you cut it down it doesn't regrow.

So you just cut yours down to the ground level without removing the roots and it didn't grow back?

I know they're pretty expensive so I thought about posting on craigslist that if anyone wants to come over and remove it they can have it.

bad idea. Don't encourage some stranger to come over to your house and take a couple hours in your backyard for free...or anything for that matter. Cut the SOB down.

We kept ours because we like them. But, there was a smaller one that looked like not much more than fronds coming out of the ground at a rental house I own. I was redoing the landscaping and it was in a horrible location, so I decided to dig it out. An hour and 2 feet into the ground later, and I was only just starting to reach the bottom of the tap root so I gave up and cut the thing away.

This is why I decided not to. I wouldn't mind if it was landscaping business who would sell it or replant it but I realized there is no way to keep the crazies of Craigslist away.

This is a question that wouldn't even be a question if the OP had the opportunity to participate in Bonfire back in the day.
