Building a new home and do not want something that will start dropping acorns or anything other than leaves.

Any recommendations on a great looking tree that will do well in McKinney?

We have a pistachio tree (at least that's what we were told it was when we bought the house) that is HUGE and provides great shade and no acorns or anything. It does have pollen that falls around April, but it is not a huge deal. We live in North Dallas, right on the edge of Plano.

You mean Chinese Pistache?

If you want something more upright a bald cypress or 2 might be a good option.

This.

The burr oak will drop some damn big acorns, but you can't beat it for shade. I have two of them in my front yard in addition to a cedar elm and a Chinese Pistache in the back. One of the oaks and the pistache both were 5-gallon trees from walmart that cost about $12 and the oak is now enormous compared to the pistache even thought i planted them the same day.
