My drain goes into the bathroom sink and theres a small gap between the metal piece where the AC meets the drain and the sink drain. Theres a bunch of gunk and it is clogged. I tried the shopvac and sucked the water out and reversed the flow to dry to punch the clog out, but it didnt work.

Any ideas?

One of the fish tape type drain snakes followed by bleach.

Typically an AC guy will use a bleach tab and compressed air or a CO2 gun to clear a drain so I would try that.

+1 for the CO2 drain gun.
Had to get the A/C guy out last week when I had no luck clearing it with a snake. For about $35, I will have my own "Charles Gallo Drain Gun" waiting for the next time.

Used a snake on mine today and it worked. Followed it with a shot of bleach.

I filled line with bleach and carried my small air compressor upstairs. Bleach didn't do anything for a day so blew it out with the air hose.

Had this same issue and the compressed air worked to fix the clog in the line from the unit for the upstairs.

Then, later that day both toilets downstairs act as if they're clogged (very slow draining and only liquids drain). Upstairs toilets still work fine.

WTF! Are the two related? Of course, the A/C guy says it was nothing he did.

If you're going to use compressed air, close the drain to your sink and put a small weight over the sink stopper.

It can shoot back up all overe your vanity if you leave it open.

mm98 - We did that. I held a couple of folded up towels over the drain when he did it.

I'm still scratching my head over the downstairs toilets.

I've always just blown the clog out. Take the drain line off near the unit, use your hand as a seal so you don't have to put your mouth directly on it and blow. That's the way my dad has done it for the decades he's owned an AC business.

lexofer - Tried that too before calling out the tech. Heard some gurgling, but it didn't fix the problem.

Blowing works well if you do it routinely. Get a couple of feet of buildup and it takes a bit more ooomph.
