Getting ready to reside my house with Hardie Board or similar brand and for those that have done this, what brand did you choose and why? The contractor I'm working with like James Hardie but seems to favor the Maxi Siding. Thanks, appreciate any insight that can be offered.

have you considered LP smart siding planks? Maxi plank is a good product and slightly cheaper than hardi.

Hardie is tried and tested. Used on all my commercial jobs. Personally, if I couldn't afford hardie, I'd wait until I could.

How much should hardy typically cost per sf for materials and install?

The Maxi siding seems to be real similar to Hardie. Probably cheaper for the contractor because they are based in Houston.

Can't really go wrong with Haride or LP.

LP should be cheaper in both material and labor. It also has a better warranty. I have a trusted source that says if you submerge both products in water, LP holds together better.

Personal preference but I would stay away from Maxi. I have heard of times in the past that they didn't honor their warranty. This was for their roofing product, but its the same company.

On LP SmartSide, make sure to you gap 3/16 and caulk. That way it's seamless and you don't see the joints from a mile away. The 7/16" siding is also structural and can be applied direct to stud. Only siding that can d that.
