Any of you guys ever cut a mirror by hand? Possible or do I need to take it to a pro?

Any glass company local to you will do it and not charge too much.

Yeah, that's what i figured. I'd probably mess it up and end up buying a new mirror.

I've done it several times when taking old frameless bathroom mirrors and cutting them down to frame them.

If it is a significantly expensive mirror, I would consider a glass shop cutting it.

My mirrors were about 36" long cuts, and i had a success rate around 75%. But also I was framing them so a rough cut on the end wasn't that big of a deal.

If you do it yourself you can get a cutter at Loews or Home Depot or most crafts stores. Set up a straight edge use a little lubricating oil and only score once using firm pressure. Its not that hard if you have a flat soft surface to work on. However if you are just doing one cut it will probably be less trips and cheaper to take it to a glass place.

I just took it in and got it cut...dude did it for free. I only wanted one edge cut, but asked to do the other 3 as well just to clean up the edges since they all had paint on them. When I said "where do I pay?" he pointed out the door and said "Have a nice day."
