Tub repair

We started remodeling our guest bathroom and everything was going well until some of the wall tile came crashing down onto the tub, taking a couple of chips out of it the enamel, exposing the steel beneath. Anyone had any experience patching up nicks like this? We tried a 3M product, sort of an epoxy putty but it wouldn't stick. It would suck if we end up just having to swap out the tub for that reason.

Can anyone recommend a product or some tips to get it fixed? Or do I just need to bite the bullet and get a replacement?

The touch up paints have always seemed pretty so so - Did you tried the one that is kind of like a paint - comes in a bottle like "white out" (which probably dates me.) However, the professional refinishes (where they do the whole tub) are typically VERY good and would be a lot cheaper than replacement.

Hadn't seen any of that stuff yet. I can't imagine refinishing will be cheaper than a $200 replacement. (It's not really a great tub, just holds water and wasn't chipped before this weekend).

If you are in Houston, call Aqua Services 713-974-5300. They do tub chip repairs. Typically, $75, using technology you can not buy from the big box stores.
