We are going to Padre to relax and celebrate our 25th anniversary tomorrow. I plan on playing 1 or 2 rounds of golf and don't know anything about the best options down there. What are a couple of recommended courses?

Haven't played down there in forever, grew up in McAllen. I like the South Padre course just because it's close to the water. But course conditions can be 50/50 and the wind will likely blow like crazy. If you don't mind driving a little, head into Brownsville as they have a few good tracks there. Riverbend or Rancho Viejo. Good value for $$ too fwiw.

Thanks for the recommendation. I have a tee time at SPI.

I haven't played SPI in over a year but it's normally in decent shape and has some holes on the bay for nice views. I'm not sure you can get on Rancho Viejo anymore unless you're staying there or a member. Tierra Santa is a hike from SPI but it's my favorite course in the valley. Check Golfnow for a good deal.
