Good Good Golf CEO Matt Kendrick and president Joe Flannery have left the company in the wake of an outcry over an advertisement for a new Callaway driver that showed a man shoving a woman to the ground and telling her not to touch the club, according to multiple reports.

Good Good co-founder Nahid Giga will serve as interim CEO, according to an internal memo, the contents of which were first reported by Business Insider.

Callaway was looking for any excuse to ditch Good Good. I guess it worked. I'd be more worried about Callaway than Good Good.

Callaway won't feel this at all. This will be old news soon if it isn't already.

I think it had more to do with his odd social media rant than the actual ad. Yeah the ad was terrible, and in bad taste, and shouldn't have been cleared. But I saw Good Good's explanation and apology. It was reasonable and believable. That's more than most companies do when they make a mistake. Really thought that would be the end of it. I'm not a fan of Good Good at all, but this is way overboard.

GG views is trending down, but the controversy actually gave them a temporary uptick. Maybe Callaway saw the stats and thought...oooh...we overpaid....still 15M views is a ton

good good youtube stats

They probably said the same thing when they took a 1.5 billion dollar loss after they ruined top golf.

I tried to parlay this into a a new set of clubs. Told my wife I didn't want to appear to be supporting a company that promotes violence against women. She wasn't buying it.

I think the lower cost of golf simulators killed top golf more than anything. And the novelty of top golf wears out pretty quickly. I would put that less on Callaway and more on the fact that it just didn't really have staying power.

Yeah, as an avid golfer, top golf holds my interest for about one visit per year. And non-golfers is surely less. It was novel and held that novelty for a good while, but it's definitely worn

Agreed. It was a fun novelty item at first but not close enough to real golf to keep actual golfers coming back but still too close to real golf (hitting golf balls well is hard) to keep non-golfers coming back.

I'm opposite. I would put it more on Callaway for not having the sense to see that before investing billions. Seems clear at this point that whoever is in charge of them investing into outside companies is in idiot....Top Golf, Good Good, I wonder whats next?

Investing in building womens only golf courses throughout the USA?

It was the pricing. It used to be a decent deal but they jacked up the rates and tried to milk every cent out of it. I had a friend that worked there and said once they changed their pricing model to per person instead of per lane it killed their business.

I think the PGA tour had a hand in it as well. They took out LIV and are probably trying to hurt Youtube golf. They don't want any competition for viewers.

Top Golf doesn't charge by person.

I assume your second comment refers to good good, not top golf. I don't see that angle at all. Good good isn't professional golf and isn't trying to steal players from the tour. If anything, they're probably a net positive for the tour, as they theoretically can bring in people who would otherwise never taken an interest in golf. It's like saying the NFL sees Dude Perfect as a competitor and wants to take them out because they throw a football.

And they're also the fact that they were a tournament sponsor before this all went down. That would have been an odd decision for a league trying to take them out.

Topgolf or Club 504 in NOLA is fine for a rainy day. It sure gets more expensive than green/cart fees though.

Just played half priced top golf today, it would be more fun if they used legit golf balls but overall it was fun.

place was packed

Top golf used to charge per person per game. It was much much cheaper than what it is now, at least if you were going with 2-4 people. That's probably what the other poster is thinking of. It was drastic when they switched. And obviously their drinks and food have gone up.

I love top golf. Great for business/company happy hours, etc. but they have priced themselves out of the market for 1-3 guys going to hit balls and have some beers. So that may be why they are struggling (if they are struggling bc every time I go they are crowded).

Back in 2009-2013 I would sometimes just go by myself or with one other person. Don't do that anymore. Only go with big groups.

Top Golf has a monthly membership option for $20, which includes 60 minutes of bay time each month and a free appetizer every time you go.

So if you know you're going, sign up and then cancel.

Worth noting that Callaway is in the middle of a $200M stock buy back. Perhaps they just wanted a discount...

I think all the indoor simulator places have taken a chunk of their business, especially with "real golfers"
