A really rough start to the tournament for the Ags. DFL +11 after 3-6 holes.

That's more than tough. Hope they can rebound.

I checked the weather in Lubbock earlier and it is windy. Normal there.

Ags having a better front nine than back. Now T8 instead of 12th (last). But have to finish in the top 5 to advance so need to pick it up rest of today and the next two days. I think they can do it !!

We are done for the day at +18 and currently in 8th place.

No team is going to play under par the rest of the day. Lots of teams still on the course. Currently, we are 3 strokes off the line needed to advance and 3 teams out. However, I bet we improve on that by the end of play tonight.

2 teams really separated themselves today from the field and another sort of separated themselves. So, 7 teams are fairly close to the 2 remaining spots to advance. Lots of golf left to play.

Now in 5th, with a 1 shot lead over 6th

They started off the first three holes of the front 9 well but have gone down since and have dropped to T6, three strokes behind the 5th place team. Only one birdie so far on the front 9.

As a team the Aggies shot a +11 today to go with yesterday's +18. They are currently tied for 7th, two strokes off the 5th place team. Wake Forest and tu have the 1st and 2nd spots practically locked up and there are about six teams with a reasonable chance to grab the 3rd through 5th spots to advance after tomorrow's round.

If the team does not advance freshman Vanessa Borovilos has a chance because also advancing will be 'the low individual not on an advancing squad'. She is currently two strokes behind a Florida Gulf Coast player.

As a side note, the site listed a Wake Forest player as having scored a hole-in-one on a par 5. I think it was the 554 yd 18. Impossible, I thought. Even in windy Lubbock, with the wind behind her back! But not too much later I noticed her score was listed as a birdie 4. No idea what happened temporarily but it was a kinda cool mistake!

First Aggie off today is at 10:55. All Aggies starting on the front 9 today. Making the cut is certainly doable so let's go, girls, you can do it !!

Would really suck to miss the cut because of a tiebreaker! So, just have to buckle down and finish above the cut with no ties !!

Not as windy today and scores for all teams are much better today.

Aggies moved into 4th for a wee bit but a couple of bogies have dropped them down to a three-way tie for 5th, below the cut and two shots off #4 UC Davis . Sophomore Cayetana birdied 4 of 5 of the first five holes and had par on the 5th to lead the Aggies so far. If she stays hot and freshman Vanessa can have a round like she is capable of it will be great for the team.

Quick update - Ags now in sole possession of 5th, one stroke over two teams in 6th. As expected it's a tough fight for the three open spots to advance!

UC Davis and Purdue are in better shape as they are currently on the back 9 and playing well. The front 9 is easier and giving up more birdies. Ags need to have a lead after they finish the front 9.

Do we know what the tiebreaker is? Looks like we've fallen back out because of the tie with Purdue

we need a flurry of birdies coming in. Hole #7 is the 3rd easiest on the day and #9 is the easiest.


edit - no birdies for us on #7, that is going to hurt

edit 2 - really poor finish to front 9 relatively. Iowa St, tu, WF and Tenn were a combined -22 on holes 7-9. It looks like we will be around -2 on those.

Good question - I do not know what the tiebreaker is and have been wondering myself. Ags tied for 5th again. But scores are down all over, probably because the wind was around 5-10 mph this morning instead of 25-30). We've done much better on the front but wonder how much that will change today because of less wind IF the wind stays the same the rest of the day. But sure wish we started on the back today with so little wind!

I believe they play extra holes in case of a tie for 5th place.

Purdue had 2 players get birdies on the last 2 holes to pass us. Our top 4 still have a total of 17 holes to catch up.

That does not yield a good result for us vs Purdue.

Purdue is done for the day. We have 8 cumulative holes to play and need to play it at -1 to advance.

We had 11 birdies on the front 9 but none on the back 9.

And just as I write that Cayetana birdies 17!

Cayetana birdies 17. Ags take a 1 stroke lead over Purdue. Purdue wins the tiebreaker if we finish tied.

We need to plat even par with 6 cumulative holes remaining.

I was just going to make the comment about Cayetana's birdie! Now if we can just shoot par or lower on the last few holes ... fingers crossed !!!
