Considering Moving from Houston. Wife and I both love San Antonio. Not rich by any stretch but comfortable. Any recommendations on what to check out ? Golf entry fee 25-50k. Homes $500k average.

You could get a townhome in The Dominion for that

When I was growing up that was the high end course to be at. How is it these days? Is it still considered an exclusive type private club?

Assume you are looking for a private club....no clue on initiations and am not sure $500k will get you a home in Fair Oaks but maybe? Initiation should be way under 25k at FO. Sonterra a thought? Dominion is running a big honking membership drive right now. Downside to the Dominion is it is close I-10, upside nice clubhouse.....another thought....Kerrville? Riverhill or Comanche...

I'm at TPC San Antonio, you can join for less than 50k initiation and there are a ton of options for homes that are 20 minutes or less drive.

If you're willing to look north, check out Vaaler Creek just south of blanco. Owning property is the only way to be a member and includes three rounds a month. Full family is around $2,400na year.


I will say that if you want other amenities most clubs have, Vaaler doesn't have any of that. But blanco is a cool town and it's a short drive down to SA

One of the attractions of a golf retirement community is going everywhere on your cart and seldom needing a vehicle.

Dominion is a good option if you can find something for $5-600k. Yes, it's still a great course and exclusive club.

FO is family friendly and another good option. $5-600k will be a stretch there, too.

The others mentioned are good, too. It just depends what you want. TPC you can't really cart to it (right?) and it's in an area of dense housing and a million rooftops.
