Wherever you end up, play in the morning. We teed off at 1:00 last year at Craft Farms and I thought I was going to pass out about 4 times. There was only 1 other guy on the course all afternoon.
Gulf Shores GC was much nicer than I thought it would be, give it an opportunity. Peninsula and Craft Farms are 1/1a imo, Kiva is bad and Lost Key is worse.
I just got back from Gulf Shores yesterday and we only played Peninsula since other courses were aerating. IMO Peninsula isn't worth the price. Played in the morning and $170. I enjoyed Craft Farms (Cotton Creek) last time I went but they were recovering from aerating. We wanted to give Cypress Bend a chance but they were aerating the week we were there. Kiva was also recovering from aerating and I've never played there but I've heard a lot of people talk about it not being worth it.
Craft Farm courses should be fine by next month when you go so I would give them a try. Play in the morning and bring bug spray for what ever course you play. The gnats are awful.
Stay away from lost keys in Pensacola unless you're ok with losing a lot of golf balls.
$170? Usually runs $125-135; will be there in a few weeks with an 8am on July 4th at $135. Craft Farms these days will usually run $100-120 peak while Peninsula is $120-140 peak. Best value is GS Golf Club, which is comparable to both and more like $85-90 at peak
We played at 9:15 on Tuesday and bought a bucket of range balls with it and it was $170+. They were shooting a video from a new management company it sounded like while we were there so maybe the rates already were changed from it.
