Looks like I'm going to be moving and house shopping. What's a reasonable room size for an indoor golf sim room?

I believe your ceiling height is more critical.

Depends which system

Some can be next to the ball some need to be behind the ball

I get that. But it doesn't matter if you have thousands of square feet if you can't swing a club.

I've got 12 foot ceilings in the garage, and swing in one garage stall space. Never had any problems.

Skytrak does side by side for ball pick up.

10'x10x and 9.5' ceilings is the bare minimum

I think the more important measurement is distance. They are louder than you think. You want it away from your wife where she can't hear it.

To safely swing a driver I'd say 15x15 with ceiling above 10ft. For the sound, I use a net - baffle and not a screen.

Depends on the system. Skytrak is probably the best bet for a smaller space. But as mentioned, ceiling height is critical. Even if you technically have enough height, "inside swing" is a phenomenon if you don't have plenty of room to completely get it out of your head.

I have mine in a 14x18' room with 9' ceiling. I've had people up to 6'3" swing on it without hitting ceiling. Ceiling height depends a bit on your swing plane.

Must've had a seriously flat swing or very early wrist cock.

I've had my sim set up in a 9ft ceiling basement and had iron hit the ceiling by less than six footer.

to have any comfort in the room needs to be 12' x 12' x 10'

If you have a 9' ceiling just mount some plywood to it with either carpet or some sort of rubber mat and paint to match. Won't look great, but will prevent drywall damage. Clubs might take a beating but just swing shallower
