Never used one but need to get one primarily for practice on the range. Really trying to dial in my short game distances and want one that I can shoot spots on the grass for accurate distances. Help me out fellow Ags!

I have this as do many others on this board, from time to time it will go on sale for $99. We use it on a daily basis no complaints, have compared side by side with high end units, no difference

CaddyTek v2.0 w/ slope

Don't count on range balls giving you anywhere near accurate distances.

You're probably correct with full swing iron shots but 80 yds and in there isn't much difference between range balls and new pro v1's

I came to the board asking about rangefinders and was convinced to give the CaddyTek a try because BlueTees sucked butt. I am glad for the purchase - has slope if you want it and pin seeking icon. Most of all it picks up the pin and other spots (like trees and electric boxes) and is very accurate.

There absolutely is a difference.

I did a lot of research into rangefinders a few years back. I bought a WoSports range finder on Amazon for like $70 and it has been great. My buddies have $200-$300 rangefinders and mine shoots the same distances, locks the same flags, and factors the same slopes.

I do wish it was magnetic, but you can't have it all.

This article compares regular versus range balls and says the biggest difference is with the short irons.

Bushnell V5. I've had the V4 for many years with no issues. And then some range balls for the course.

3 of our group have GoGoGo Sports rangefinder from Amazon ($90). Another has the newest Bushnell ($600). They are close enough and over the last 4 years I've treated the GoGoGo like dogcrap. If I were to lose it I would not even sweat.

Two lessons learned for me:

First one I got didnt have the magnet to attach it to cart. Really annoying.

Second time, I didn't realize "Tour" model meant it didn't give you slope.

I have the GoGoGo and it works just fine. I bought a magnetic strap for it and it also works fine.

I have a Callaway 300 Pro and i love it. I really just wanted something with a built-in magnet when i was shopping. On top of that, i like that it's super compact. Also has slope.

It's more expensive ($200) than the CaddyTek and the Amazon offerings, but cheaper that most comparative Bushnells

I tried one of the cheapo Amazon range finders that was suggested here a while back and it was awful. I sent it back and got the Callaway.
