So I've got a sun mountain stand bag that maybe a year and a half old and one of the legs completely snapped off over night. Walked in my garage to grab it this morning and it's laying down on the ground. I specifically bought this bag because they were/are regarded as one of the better carry bags?

Now I need a new one. Anyone have any recs for something that will last? Vessel, Jones brands have caught my eye online. Seem sturdy and well made?

I do not want full length dividers.

Curious what my options are these days?

I've tried most of them with the exception of Callaway. Ping seems to be the best all-around bag with excellent durability. You can't go wrong with their Hoofer line.

Though I believe the dividers are full-length.

Sun Mountain straps are horrible. I don't believe they make Titleist's bags anymore. The legs on both are poor. Jones are heavy and the features aren't there. The material rips on both.

I love my vessel bag and would buy it again. Very well made and clean, without all the branding.

I have a Taylor Made stand bag that has held very well.

Has enough pockets to keep crap but also not way too many that you're losing stuff in it.

I'm a vessel guy now. I got their cart bag and I love it, my only regret that I didn't get the stand bag.
100/100 would recommend vessel

did you contact sun mountain?
I'd be a decent bit surprised if they didn't make this right. Especially if it just seemed to fall off in the garage. Not like you ran over it with a golf cart

Recently got the Titleist Players 5 stand bag. Like it so far. The Players 4 is also a good one.

Sun Mountain is too good a bag for that.
Your wife hit it and didn't tell you……

Yes. I called them and they told me to email them pics, etc. no response yet so I don't know if they are going to help or not?

I currently carry a Stitch bag, and it is fine. Looks great, but pocket space is pretty limited.

Ping Hoofer is your best bet, I think. The Titleist stand bags are also pretty good.

I just upgraded to a Titleist Linkslegend stand bag after considering that or a vessel. It's not the lightest if you carry, but it's high quality, looks old school, and they aren't common. They're generally only available through certain private clubs, but you can get one online or at some big box stores with a markup.

Titleist Player 4 for carry and Sun Mountain mid stripe for cart

Saw a Titleist Linksmaster (maybe it's Links Legend) at PGA Superstore. Maroon color. It was uber nice.

I have a grey one I've used for 3 years now. Highly recommend.

I looked at that bag. It's sharp.

I was going to order the blue one but my pro shop had a maroon sitting there so I took that as a sign to get the maroon and have instant gratification.

Why the regret? I'm about to order one and was going to get the cart bag since I only ever ride or push cart.

Brands to look at are Vessel, Ghost, Jones if you want non-brands. Most all professional bags are Vessel if you look close enough.

Check out this too:

Any reason most of yall are still buying carry bags? Is it purely just at the range or places to have it leaning? There is a 0% chance I'm ever carrying clubs for 18 holes again in my life but am still struggling to move to a cart bag.

That is my only regret. Im never carrying my clubs 18 holes again either between push carts or riding carts, but I can't stand that it doesn't have a stand for when it isn't on one of those 2 transportation vessels.

I don't have any complaints about the bag, it's basically perfect to me, except it doesn't have a stand. I think if I would have gotten the stand bag, then I would say it's the perfect bag to me.

Just one mans opinion

When I travel, I only take the carry bag. Whoever is carrying the bag will be much happier… whether it's me or someone else.

So I guess you are telling me to keep my current carry bag for travel if I'm going to a course that requires a caddy right? That seems smart enough.

Found some pics of it online. (But saw the actual bag at the PGA Superstore on Westheimer [Houston, TX], about a month ago.)

That's the exact bag I just bought. The cart strap definitely gets in the way of a pocket and glove/towel/brush rings, but it's a great bag.

Update from my original situation. Contacted SM and they sent me the replacement parts I needed and bag is good again. No complaints from me now.

good to hear!! SM was privately owned and the family finally sold a about a year or two ago. Glad to hear new ownership still did the right thing.
Also this thread made me remember and it's been at least 10 years or so but around that time SM was making Titleist bags is what I was told by a rep in the industry. Not sure if they still are.
