Howdy, Ags.

Quick question to anyone that may know..

Is Walden on Lake Conroe private or semi-private? I've lived in the area for years and have heard conflicting reports. TIA.

Walden is private and Margaritaville is semi-private. I've been thinking about joining Walden, but haven't made up my mind yet.

Walden Lake Conroe was allowing the public to call and play in the afternoon on weekdays. As of a month or two ago, they had stopped that.

Also, unless something has changed drastically, Margaritaville is in horrendous shape. (Old Del Lago)

That Margaritaville course needs some capital invested into it. Mostly good cultural practices can only get you so far. It's a shame because it's a nice little layout and could be a great place for Stay & Play combos.

I hate that Walden on Lake Conroe went private - it was one of my favorite layouts in the area and I hadn't been able to get back out there recently.

I'm also curious what is about to happen with Grand Lake Estates. They are going to develop another large community south of Grand Lakes and the footprint of the new community shows that it includes the Grand Lakes golf course. They are either going to pump money into it or close it, I'm not sure which.

Had a to go speak at a conference at Margaritaville a few months ago and can confirm that it looked terrible from the road.

This is a damn shame. Great course that had potential, but who designs a fantastic layout but doesn't make room for a driving range, at minimum?

Walden is private but membership gets you full reciprocal at Northgate CC as well. Have been a member of NGCC for a little over a year and enjoy hitting up Walden when time allows for the drive up.

Sad to hear about grand lake. Played probably 30-40 rounds out there. Cool layout, although it's pretty hard. I think part of the reason it's hard is because of the condition it's always in, you never have a normal lie.

someone who wanted to design a fantastic course and use the land available to do so.

I'd rather have a great course without a range instead of a range with an avg course.

Damn I hate to hear Grand Lakes Estate is closing down. Has so much potential and for $50 on weekends when wanting to get out and enjoy a relaxing round of l golf and BYOB it couldn't be beat.

From what I have heard, the subdivision is expanding but the golf course will remain.
