First name that pops up is Kuchar.

No majors but 9 tour wins, top money earner in 2010, and was on a stretch of made cuts the past 7-8 years.

Westwood.

But maybe for underachieving since no majors but a ton of wins.

Im not sure Vijay gets the kind of love when talking about some of the greats. Three majors and over 30 wins, yet he kind of seems forgotten. Hell, his 2004 season alone isn't talked about enough. Guy won 9 times on the year.

And oh yea, all this in the middle of Tiger's career.

Agree with this. I've been watching him for 25 years (at least!) Kept expecting that he would break through and win a few majors. Didn't happen.

Jim Furyk has the 3rd-most top-10 finishes of all time and 3rd-highest career earnings.

Vijay and Stricker are good answers. I would add Padraig Harrington.

Meh... Padraig won 37 times worldwide and won 3 majors in a 12 month period. That run sorta solidifies you imo.

Adam Scott

14 PGAT wins, 1 major

He's never finished a year outside the top 50 since his rookie year in 2000.

Agree all the way if we're going underrated and not underachieving.

Webb Simpson. Top 20 all time money winner and US Open winner but no one I ever think of when I think of the most popular or best golfers over the last decade. He just stays off the radar but he's quietly made himself a nice living.

I don't think most of the guys listed are "underrated" Vijay, Kucher, ZJ, Webb, Adam Scott etc. are all very highly thought of and known. I'm going with Charles Howell III, aka Chucky three sticks.

Dude has made over 450 cuts, almost 100 top 10s, and won $42MM, yet only the most hardcore golf fans have any idea who he is.

Yeah…I have a hard time calling a HOF'er underrated.

Odd how Martin Kaymer is gone from the spotlight. He was ranked 476 I believe at the end of 2022.

What category of underrated are they actually talking about?

Hall of famer that people frequently overlook or don't consider (i.e. Vijay as mentioned above)?

Best guys to have never won a major?

Etc.

The way I think about it is how quickly they would be mentioned if people were asked to identify the best golfers of the last 25 years. While Vijay would definitely be listed, it would not surprise me at all if a bunch of people listed, say, Sergio Garcia before him. That's why I would consider him underrated.

I think of Vijay less as an underrated player and more of a not thought of player.

I'm gonna throw Bubba Watson into the conversation

12 career wins, 14 runner ups, 74 top 10s, 2 green jackets, $48mm earned

Isn't not being thought of consistent with the level of your performance pretty much the definition of underrated?

Webb Simpson and Keegan Bradley come to mind in the current generation of aging golfers.

I remember seeing him a couple times in Houston back at his peak. One of the most smoothest swings I've ever seen. He made it look so easy.

Maybe stretching the 25 year limit but Lee Janzen comes to mind. Won 2 US Open and 1 Players. Was on the last US Ryder Cup team that won in Europe as well.

I also don't think Faldo gets near enough accolades. 6 majors is huge. Dude was a machine.
