Lifted cart question

We're moving into a golf community and I'm looking to buy a new cart. It will be split use between golfing and cruising around the neighborhood, etc. I'm looking at the EZ Go Liberty as I like 4 seats facing forward. The version I'm looking at has a lift but with turf tires. Question - is it annoying to golf in a lifted cart? I haven't spent much time in one. I'm 6'2" if that makes a difference.

Can't lean out and grab your ball anymore. One you don't think about. Also feel a bit like a guido, but I use mine at a public course, so maybe you won't feel that way if it is regular for the community

Thought about that - I generally don't like to be flashy, but I think the lift is normal in this club.

Golf cart pricing is absolutely nuts.

I'm leaning towards the new brands like Icahn.

Many lifted carts at my course. They are ok but some annoyances. Yes, you can't lean over and get your ball. Also you'll lose some top end speed. Not sure how much that matters to you.

One of the guys I play with actually just got his cart back from taking the lift and tires off of it. That's how much he hated it.

Lifted seems a little more dangerous on a golf course where you will take on some sidehills, etc. I like that low center of gravity for my freewheeling cart driving

I live in a gated golf course community where most households have a golf cart. I personally hate playing golf in a lifted cart.

I'm 5'11 so you're a little taller than me so won't be impacted as much by the height but stepping up and down to get into a cart gets really old when playing golf. Also, the bags sit higher so getting clubs in and out is more of a hassle as well. If your wife plays and is shorter than 5'8" she's going to have a hard time seeing the top of her irons to know which is which. They are also less stable because of the raised center of gravity and like others mentioned it is much more difficult to snag your ball from a moving cart when it's lifted.

I'm personally a fan of Yamaha golf carts, I think they're built the best and maintenance is minimal. I see more old Yamahas still driving around than Club Car and EZ Go. My opinion is EZ go has the worst quality of the three. I'm on my second Gas Yamaha. Got the first one in 2012, bought it new for $6k, sold it last year for $5k. Got a 2022 Gas Yamaha because the new ones are significantly quieter and faster than the old models. Plus it also has independent rear suspension that makes the ride really good.

It's not uncommon here to have a 4 seater lifted cart for cruising and a regular Cart for golf but If you are only getting one cart and wanting to cruise and golf id just get a regular 2 seater cart.

I love my icon 40L. Have used it at the ranch and golf course. As others have said, it's a little annoying for those who can't lean over and pick up their golf ball- however I love golfing in mine…

Thanks for this - y'all have me leaning away from lifted.

Just get a 3" lift if you are going to use it more than just at the course. No need for anything more than that.

I bought a new gas Yamaha in 2020 and I couldn't be happier. Feel like I got an absolute steal for $7k. I bought it Labor Day weekend of 2020, and the market went absolutely bananas at the beginning of 2021.

My cart came with 21.5" diameter tires instead of the standard 18", and the extra ~2 inches of height annoys me when it comes to picking up golf balls.

I have a rebuilt 2018 Club Car and it drives better and feels more solid than the clubs 2 year old EZ Go Lithiums.

You might want to confirm with the club that they allow lifted carts -- not all clubs do.

$7k is a steal, I think mine was around $10.5k in 22. The nice thing about them is they hold their value really well. I used my previous cart for ten years and sold it for $1k less than I bought it for. That made buying a new one significantly easier to stomach even though the old one was fine and I didn't really need a new one.

Our course is in a large community, and while there are a lot of badass, lifted carts, the majority can't be used on the course because of their tires. So people drive up in their $15k cart then jump in a regular club cart to play.

At 66, I can't do that from a normal cart anymore!

Had one and hated it from day one. Took the lift off it and replaced wheels and tires. Much happier now.

Another thing to consider is whether or not you have children that will be driving it. I didn't lift my cart specifically because my son would eventually be driving it.
