Have a guys weekend of floating the river and staying near the horseshoe and wanted to play golf one day. Would be willing to drive 30 mins or so.

Have played the Bandit many times (and did it with this same group once).

Anywhere else we should look? Something fun and nice preferred (don't really care about price).

Played Bandit for the first time yesterday and heard from a local that Landa Park is a fun track. Wanted to play it but really difficult to get on for a muni with the number of member rounds played there every day

Vaaler Creek is my go-to when in the area. Looking forward to playing in November when I head to Canyon Lake for a wedding.

I like kissing tree the best in that area

Landa is a great deal price wise. Cant beat the value.

As a result, it is hard to find a good tee time.

Valaar would be my choice since you're staying near the horseshoe.

Rebecca Creek is closest to you, but it's usually not in very good shape. It would be the cheapest though.

Or Rebecca Creek.

Stick with Vaaler

Vaaler is great. I think they're punching the greens this week.

Canyon springs in north SA is a little over 30 minutes from canyon lake and usually in great shape.

Literally never heard this before, but am considering stealing it. I visit Canyon Lake a few times a year with the family, and have thought briefly about Lakeside...will reconsider.

Played Vaaler twice this past week. It is in great shape.

We played a year an half ago. Played the bandit the day before. Showed up at 7:30 for an 8 tee time. Shop didn't open until 8, didn't get to tee off until 8:20 and the course was mostly unplayable. Full weed patches on the greens and hard rock fairways.

They then had the nerve to chase me down in the parking lot and scold me for being my own beer even though I had bought the beer from them. It was bizzaro

Vaaler Creek is a challenging and always a pristine course. Best near the Horseshoe.

If you're going to play The Bandit, be prepared for a 5 hour round. I've played 3 or 4 times out there since they switched the two 9s last fall...you know, because they say it was better for place of play...and 5:10 is the quickest so far.

I've played Landa 500+ times but not since the renovation
I've played the bandit over 100 times

Love both courses. Bandit is significantly more challenging but Landa is just a great muni.

It pains me to say it because my FIL has played Lakeside several times a week for years, but yes, it's an awful course. Rocks and deer poop everywhere. Bring sturdy shoes and clubs that you don't care about.

Probably knew my wife's uncle. They had a small group of guys trying to make portions of the course playable by taking responsibility. He moved some time back but said they have put no money at all into the course. We played there a bunch back in the early 90s when it was just decent, I can only imagine how bad it could be now.

Haven't been to Bandit after the flip, not surprising it would take that long, was always already pretty slow. Landa is great, just constantly packed.

Vaaler for sure if you can get on there.

That's just a terrible decision on their part to flip them

agreed. 18 was a classic finishing hole. Just awesome. 9 as 18 would be boring.

I think I'm leaning towards Vaaler Creek. Anyone a member? They only allow tee times out 14 days in advance but I'd like to try and get this locked in (2 months in advance).

Pro shop was closed today / tomorrow for punching the greens. I may give them a call on Wednesday and see if they can work with us.
