So next week I'm golfing with my father in law near their lake house. When I asked what course he just said "Kilgore Golf Course"….when I google that doesn't exist.

I'm assuming it's a purse near Kilgore though, and I know we're going on Wednesday because there is a senior discount.

Any ideas where we might be going? Only things I see are Tempest and Meadowbrook. Meadowbrook appears to only be a 9 hole so I wouldn't think that is it.

He's talking about Meadowbrook. It is a 9-hole course but it's not bad. Been soaked the past couple of months but should be dry by next week. It's a pretty straightforward layout, It's only real defense is a few severely sloped greens (2, 3, 7)

So I guess we would just be playing it twice? That pretty disappointing if thats the case.

Yes. There are different tee boxes for the back and a par 3 that turns into a 4 and a 4 that turns into a 5. But it's the same track twice.

Pleasant new development. I got a text this afternoon that the tee time was switched to play at Tempest

That's a major upgrade. Tempest is as good as it gets in east Texas.

Annnnd another change. Apparently Tempest had a tournament so we're now playing Cherokee Ranch

The one in Jacksonville? Or the Lake Cherokee course?

Cherokee Ranch was a fairy nice course. Greens were dang challenging, a few were like glass and many of the blind tee shots made for some added difficulty.

I had two par 3's that I nailed the shot dead at the pin and sure enough both died with the 10mph wind dead in the face and fell short

Hopefully not the old Longview CC course on highway 42!

Tempest is a great layout.

Cherokee Ranch in Jacksonville is a great course. My HS golfers played Regionals there the past two yeas. Very playable layout. #14 is a great par four. Enjoy!
