just a random thought while watching the final round yesterday.
I'm sure I am missing some, but it's surprising how little success the kids of PGA Tour pros have had. The most successful that come to mind are the Stadler's, Tway's....? Nicklaus' kids didn't have much success and neither did many of that generation.
I wonder if Tiger, Spieth, etc generation will change that or is it just too individualistic to expect this to happen? You see it a lot in MLB, some in NFL, etc.

Cink when he had his son on the bag was pretty cool. But the Coody family has been pretty successful.

What is your definition of success for the kid? Making the PGA tour? Winning a PGA Tour event?

OK. Then the most successful father-son of all time are named Morris. Each won 4 majors.

The Parks won 4 and 2 majors respectively.

Both won on Tour?

so I'm correct that it's been a while and certainly in the modern era, there have not been many successful sons to follow in dad's footsteps. Will it change moving forward?

What about Summerhays? There are a ton of them playing and coaching.

I don't think it will change. I'd imagine a lot of kids have wanted to follow in the footsteps of their parents but professional sports are hard. In sports like basketball and football, your genetics are probably more influential on your success but less so in golf.

I just think it's a simple numbers game.

The skill it takes to be successful on the PGA Tour is so incredible the chances of having a father and son both do it is highly unlikely.

Tells you how freakishly talented these guys are. Get 50% of a champion's genes, likely have a club in their hand by pre-school, grow up on the course, have access to great coaching, yet the best of the best kids peak at being a fringe pro

It's gotta be the Nicklaus family. They combined to win 118* professional events, including 18 majors.

*Jack = 117
Gary = 1

My first thought was Jay and Bill Haas. They both had true legit PGA careers. 9 and 6 Tour wins respectively

Bill won the FedEx cup too, that has to count for something. They were my first thought as well.

Your name can also get you drafted/roster spot in other sports, sure you may get a sponsor exemption, but you aren't getting a tour card on name alone
