12-year-old daughter, soon to be 13, she is currently playing US Kids TS-57. Her height was recently measured and she is almost 61" tall, so time for new clubs.
I know there are several parents on this board that have sons or daughters that play competitively. Does anyone have any thoughts on what to choose between the US kids Tour Series 60-63" series or the Ping Prodi G's?
The US Kids are designed by height, the Ping's would be custom fitted, also the Ping's include one free reshaft on sets of 5 or more clubs bought in one transaction (we would be buying 10 clubs at once so we would qualify), in essence the Ping's would be like buying two sets at once since they are going to get refitted as she grows at no cost (once). US Kids are cheaper and they offer more club options but I have been told (no idea if true) the Ping's are hotter, i.e. more distance.
At least with the driver, she was swinging it at about 60-65 mph about a year ago, so I am fairly certain it is faster now.
Either way, it is a significant investment and I want her to have the best possible clubs for her specs. If anyone has any experience comparing these two or maybe another option. I know there is a company that custom makes junior clubs, maybe Flynn (I could be totally wrong on the name)
For what it is worth, this is more than a hobby for her, she plays lots of tournaments, at the moment plays 9 hole modified tournaments as part of Little Linksters (STPGA Jr) and Beltway Tour (pearl division) and some 18-hole tournaments as part of First Tee (Adv Birdie), Junior Tour (STPGA Jr) and Beltway Tour (platinum division). We are getting to that stage where the clubs she plays matter.
Edit: typo on the subject line, Tour Series
