Looking to head up thanksgiving weekend with the wife.

Any recommendations and/or courses?

Obviously TPC Scottsdale stadium is a must.

Heard there are great Nickalaus, weiskopf and Mickelson courses as well

TIA

I personally would skip TPC Scottsdale for We-Ko-Pa, Quintero, Wickenburg Ranch, Troon North or Grayhawk. Under the radar but very good in my opinion are Sun Ridge Canyon (as much for the patio after the round) and Gold Canyon.

My son took this picture Saturday at Gold Canyon. I can't imagine how great it's going to be after over seeding.
Keep in mind fall is over seeding time so check with courses ahead of time. That's generally complete by early November but sometimes they're cart path only for a few weeks after reopening.

TPC is most certainly not a must. Take that money and go play one of the much better courses that just doesn't happen to have a golf tournament played on it

JJ hit the big ones, grayhawk, wekopa, Troon, sun ridge and gold. I would also recommend skipping talking stick

Ak-Chin Southern Dunes is good. The boys went to Whirlwind the day before playing Gold Canyon and they liked it too. Those two are on the south side in Chandler/Maricopa.

Unsolicited advice. I have no idea how good you are but choose your tees wisely. If you take on too much you will lose all your balls and you won't have fun. Don't be a hero. You're probably going to get paired with someone or 2 or 3 someones if you are by yourself and there's a pretty good chance it will be someone really good. Don't be afraid to play a tee or two up.

If staying at a casino resort doesn't bother you, We-Ko-Pa had a recent renovation to the casino hotel and is pretty modern. I enjoyed staying there and playing golf, the fianc probably would have nixed the casino hotel stay if she had known it was a casino beforehand lol

With that said, I'd stay there anytime again and play both courses.

Troon North Pinnacle was gorgeous. Bad course to pick for a first round in months, but I enjoyed every minute of my 12-ball, 115 stroke round.

E mentioned casino hotels. I believe the casinos have gone to masks required and 50% capacity. I'm going out there the end of next week for 2 weeks so I'll post any information I pick up.

WE KO PA. ALL DAMN DAY LONG.

So damn pure and the two courses are very different and excellent.

TPC is a play it once and never play again course. I am a sucker for tour stops, but there are much better courses.

Troon North is probably my favorite course I've ever played. I will play it every single time I go to Scottsdale and then rotate the other rounds.

Flip a coin between WeKoPa and Greyhawk.

Played troon north pinnacle this morning. It was great and pretty tough. Only negatives were nobody seemed to have fixed their ball marks, especially on earlier holes. And from the gold tees there were a lot of holes with some trouble around 270 yards from the tees so couldn't hit driver or at least couldn't really turn it loose.

I'm staying at Boulders next year. Play on property or go elsewhere?

Played Grayhawk Talon yesterday and We-Ko-Pa Sauguro today and they are both excellent tracks and in super good condition.

They should leave the stands up all year, open a concession stand on Friday through Sunday, and just let people come in and heckle random golfers. That would be awesome.
