Well it's been since October since I injured my back. Had surgery in January and will play golf for the first time tomorrow. I had finally consistently played in the high 70's before the injury. Hope I can start where I left off. The driver and 3 wood will have to stay home for the first month. Hit the 9 iron the other day a bit and it was flying straight and true.... wish me luck.

I hope for the best. I had a microdisectomy (L4-L5) in 2012 or 2013. I started walking down the street within 3-5 days after using my 9 iron as a cane. I would softly swing it within 7-10 days. I began swinging way before clearance (not something I would recommend to anyone in hindsight). Played within 3 months, which was early, but honestly didn't play anywhere near where I was pre-surgery until about 9 months after.

No tips, other than listen to your body. Oh, keep score!

Look into lighter shafts for all clubs. Took me well over a year before I had my "normal" swing back. Still isn't as fast as it was pre-surgery. Let your equipment help you. Good luck.

That is exactly what I had done. Surgeon told me 3-4 months, PT told be 6-8 unless I want to be Tiger and have it happen again. I'm 6 mo out. Fingers are crossed.

Get a MISIG to strengthen those muscles.

L5 S1 microdiscectomy for me at age 27. Did PT after along with strength training (similar intensity as before injury). Actually ended up longer than before injury.

Was about 3-4 months before small swings. 6 months before I was fully comfortable to "go after it".

32 now and wouldn't have done it any different.

I had L4-L5 microdiscectomy in June of 2020, took my time getting back into golf and then re herniated the same disc in January of 2021. I was pretty disappointed but after the second surgery this January I have felt much better on the range and course. I still hit balls 2-3 days a week and get a round in on the weekends and my back is doing great.

Good Luck OP.

Basically what happened to me and the next step will be to fuse L4/5 which I am honestly not concerned about.

I'm in the same boat. L4/5 microdiscectomy in August of '19. MRI coming up on Monday. Hoping to go the non-surgical route this time but I'm afraid I'll just be kicking the can down the road.

My journey ....

1. L4/L5 Microdisectomy Feb 2017 - weeks of rehab - didn't really get fully cleared for a few months (can't remember if it was 3-4 or 6 months)

2. L4/L5 Fusion Feb 2018 - longer recovery and didn't play until 2019 - was able to play 3 rounds in 4 days in April 2019 - the 4th day was spent walking all over Augusta for a practice round - survived the trip with no major issues.

3. L3/L4 Fusion July 2020 - Starting in 2019, my left leg was going numb if I stood up somewhere more than a few minutes. Actually fell one night at a party after my leg lost all feeling. Found that the L3/L4 disc was pushing against the nerve going down my leg. Only real remedy was surgery.

Have played golf a handful of times since then and have had no real issues with the back, other than expected soreness from not playing enough. Just had a follow-up with my doctor today and x-rays looked good. Hoping to get back out playing again soon.

Overall, I believe I am in a better place by having had the procedures, although it's been a long sometimes frustrating road. I wish you luck with your situation.
