Anyone know of any solid golf instructors on YouTube?

Recently decided to start playing more often but my game is hopeless. Don't have the funds for an instructor and was wondering if anyone had any good recommendations or could point me in the right direction on some instructors to watch online.

Gankas...I will add that Gankas' stuff feels like u need him there to make sure ur doing it correctly...but his concepts can be pretty good

Golf lessons can be expensive, but some instructors will do virtual sessions or packages that are significantly cheaper than $125-$250/hour rate. I'd look for virtual options and see if there is anything that would be feasible on the low end. Some public courses even offer clinics where the pro may give specific guidance for your game if you ask.

I'm only suggesting that because I believe there is no substitute for someone putting their eyes on you and specifically addressing what you need, versus what you assume you need. Although there are some knowledgeable instructors on YouTube, chasing YouTube tips and drills can easily lead down a rabbit hole of confusion that could severely impact progress.

His stuff looks great. Then you turn the sound on and he starts explaining it and then I'm lost.

Looks simple and straightforward but sounds like rocket science.

Monte Scheinblume explains things in a way that I really understand.

Take a look at his "No Turn Cast Drill/Swing" videos.

Mike Malaska or Monte Scheinblum. Both have websites that aren't expensive and present in an easy to understand, enjoy the game way. Malaska is monthly and you can drop anytime. Scheinblum charges per 'course'. Monte's website is rebelliongolf.com. There are some good videos from both when they guested on the bebettergolf YouTube channel.

Clay Ballard at top speed golf has a lot of good stuff on YouTube, as well as online lessons you can sub to

Mr. Short Game on you tube.

there are plenty of great golf instuctors with great videos. they will teach you many aspects of the swing.

with that said you should google search Gregg Mchatton and watch some of his teaching. "The Hat" is a legendary instructor that teaches an effortless swing that is the most natural and repeatable. If you google search his swing youll see a loop of his swing that is just georgeos.

So much of McHatton's stuff is on that myswingevolution channel and most of that is that Christo Garcia guy that took lessons from McHatton chasing a Hogan swing. It's hard to follow, McHatton continually walks on and off screen or sits in the cart. If you're going to look for legendary golf instructors throw in Jim McLean. Much better videos.

Watched the whole thing; I appreciate that she knows what she is doing.

I have four suggestions for YouTube channels:

Malaska Golf

Eric Cogorno Golf

Mr. Short Game

Golf Sidekick (particularly for course management and strategy)

Avoid the tour pros. They're great players but so many of them are really sh*tty teachers.

Golf Mates for breaking 90 or 80

I see $125-$250/hr thrown out for lessons. That's definitely from a Class A pro and great if you're in single digits.

If you're a high capper the young Asst Pro can just as well get you breaking 90 or better for $50/hr lessons. Probably cheaper if you buy a pack of lessons. And those guys are way underpaid and appreciate it.

Yes, but also beware of the young assistant pro. They'll want to change everything. Sometimes at the end of the lesson, the only thing remaining the same is you can still put the clubs in the bag grip first.

If you're shooting 100 you might as well get the basics right. "Swing your swing" probably doesn't hold as true when you're a 25 capper.

I'm probably a little late to the party, but you can go from shooting 60 over par to breaking 100 easily with help from Rick Shiels Golf, Chris Ryan Golf, and me and my golf. I promise they will help you lower your handicap. I shot 89 today without playing in 3 months and I built my swing based on their help.

When she was on the Barstool Fore Play Golf podcast and played a scramble, I was disappointed that it was so cold and she was bundled up like an Eskimo momma

Just started getting into golf and I have really liked Rick Shields and Tom Saguto.

You know I've been taking my daughter to junior golf program the past few weeks. It's great as they get the kids together for an hour to show them basics. Today all they did was work on putting for an hour. They had cones set up all of the putting green and string lines setup to help them figure out aiming points and such. She loves it.

I think it would be a good idea for local golf pros to setup adult clinics similar to how they teach the kids. We all suck bad enough and need some help lol.

I second this! JJ is great.

I like several of the names/channels posted previously, but the one I've really been focusing on lately is Tom Saguto. He's a stack and tilt single-plane guy. My biggest challenge has always been consistency with my swing, and he has helped my swing a ton by reducing a lot of the variables. He's a goofball but I like him.
