Went into the PGA Superstore in Katy yesterday to test a few irons and possibly take home a set. I'm not consistent enough for a fitting, and standard loft and lie is fine for me.

We walk in, and they have very few iron sets in stock. I wanted to hit the Taylormade 790s just to see, and really wanted to try the Titleist AP1s.

Asked the rep about the empty racks and he checked the storage space up above. Nothing except a few sets of muscle back blades.

He said that the manufacturers are all backordered and are filling custom orders first before making standard sets.

Wedges were picked over as well. I wanted to replace mu old Cleveland CG-15s but the only RTX's they had were 58, 60, and a lone 64 degree.

If I was in the market for a driver I'd have been OK, they had hundreds of those.

I think a bunch of manufacturers are having issues right now - one local course sent out an email saying a demo day was being cancelled because if they did get orders they'd have no idea when they could fill them.

Interesting. I went in to the store in Plano a couple of weeks ago to buy a new driver. Yes, they had tons of those. But it didn't look like they were missing a lot of irons, wedges, putters, etc. Then again, I guess I was focused on one thing going in. Store didn't look empty though.

There isn't a whole lot of whole iron sets kept in inventory anywhere really. Just buy a set off eBay once you figured out what you want

Their store in the Woodlands is full of merchandise. My son and I couldn't buy any of it though because we got kicked out for not wearing masks. Probably was going to buy something I didn't need anyway.

Bought 2 new vokey wedges a couple weeks ago from the katy store. Tried a few out with a worker helping me with bounce and grind. Got a 52 and a 60 and love them.

And the mask sign specifically said "strongly encourage", so not a requirement there.

I always make my way back to the clearance racks of the clothing section. Always a good day getting 65% of a Travis Mathew shirt.

That's interesting. I was in there a couple of weeks ago sans mask with my daughter and no issues. Interacted with a couple employees too since I was hitting several different irons.

But to the inventory question, they seemed to be well stocked in all things.

I just waited 3 months for a custom iron set of Wilson D7 Forged, so I can appreciate them taking care of custom orders first (X100 shafts, 2* upright if anyone cares).
