any members or anyone that knows much about the club? I'm from Conroe, but it's been 25 yrs since I actually lived there. I've never played the course but there is a (very slight) chance I could move back to the area.

Anyway, that neighborhood would be a good location for us if we did so I thought I'd look into the club.

Reading on line they have a lot of rules and I was wondering how stuffy the place is? Are these normal rules that places post but don't really enforce or is this sort of a stuffy club?

I see they don't allow private carts. I can see that being the case in a nicer club that is isolated, but since this is right in the middle of a neighborhood, that seemed a little strict. Also noticed that they only allow walkers with "permission". I assume that is just there way of keeping pace up.

Anyway, would like to hear from anyone with first hand knowledge

thanks

Not allowing walking would be a red flag for me.

Really good course. Greens are usually great. It used to be a "go to" for us when it was public. I've got buddies who live in WF and they say that it looks pretty empty now a lot of the time (since going private).

Prior to WF thoroughfare and prior to the subdivision, it was a $32 weekday twi-light rate. It was a total steal because the conditioning was incredible. Nice course. Nice place. Hard to swallow the amount of money required even though I know the circumstances have dramatically changed.

I have a friend who is a member and it is not stuffy at all.

After playing there versus High Meadow Ranch. I can see why they don't allow private carts. It is a slippery slope.

The guy who owns it runs the place at a loss is my understanding. He has plenty of money, loves the game and is out there all the time.

They just went private. Members loved it during COVID when only they could play so they agreed to increase dues and go private.

Played a few times this fall mid-late morning and maybe saw 1-2 groups the entire round.

thanks tommy, good to hear. i realize that a places rules on paper aren't a great way to judge. if we do end up in the area will definilty make it out there to check it out.

Them going private lose a bunch of their memberships w the rate increase and a good number of them switched to Lake Windcrest. Awesome course, but i don't see the value w how much they are charging.

From their website it looks like initiation is 5k and dues are 600/month. Is that not correct? If so, that's downright cheap.

That's what I read. As I posted, they don't allow private carts and have a fee for each time you ride which is required apparently per round.

Not the biggest deal in the world, but I always wonder how that would work for me. I tend to have time to play 3 or 6 or so holes a time much more often then playing a full round. For me, that's all I often have time for. My current course you just take carts anytime you want, it's part of your dues.

My dream is to live somewhere that I can just drive my own cart from home and stretch three or 6 holes a couple times a week into more holes a few more times a week with the convenience of having my own cart on a neighborhood course

It's no deal breaker, because right don't have that now (can't live in my current club's neighborhood due to schools not working )

Thank you for the info. We just went under contract on a property in Windcrest Estates right off 1488. Going to join one of the nearby courses.

I have a sister that lives in lake wind crest, pretty near the club. Incidentally I have a brother that lives in wood Forrest as well. All part of the appeal of moving to that area (since I'm in that group of people that actually really enjoys being around family).

Not sure on pricing but the owner is seriously wealthy and it's basically his private club. He will hand select who he wants to join. I know someone who joined when it went private and visited with him about it probably a month ago.

Bumping this thread since I'm considering courses in the area. Anyone been recently since it went all private and can comment on conditions, atmosphere, etc?
