We will be in Scottsdale for a couple days in several weeks and are looking for 3 or 4 course recommendations? What do you all recommend? I'm an 11 hndcp.

Not to be a jerk, but Scottsdale has been discussed many times in this thread. Search it up.

Happy to give you my thoughts on any course you have an interest in. Have played most of the good courses in the area.

I have played both TPC Scottsdale and Troon North in the last few years. Enjoyed both. Lots of golf out there but guessing those are two of the top publics.

Is not what? Enjoyable? Fair enough but I enjoyed playing it. If you didn't like it share why. That might be helpful for the poster trying to decide where to spend his time and money.

It is a well conditioned, enjoyable round, but is not a top 10 course in the Scottsdale area. So many better options. Certainly not worth the price.

Has been the consensus on this page for the most part.

It isn't bad, there is just a lot better.

Nice update. Thank you. I haven't played much out there. Played there and enjoyed it. But sounds like worth looking into other options.

We-Ko-Pa (Seguaro over Cholla) - Relatively easy
Ak-Chin Southern Dunes - Tough but a great course
Gray Hawk (Raptor over Talon - Popular on this forum)
Quintero - Really tough

Throw Boulders in there in addition, and that is perfect

I enjoyed Dinosaur Mountain more than Troon and Grey Hawk. I don't think I've played a more visually pleasing course in my life. Granted it is not in Scottsdale but just outside.

Can't go wrong in Scottsdale.

Yeah, dinosaur mountain in a fun course. Not always in as good of shape than the others, but crazy Elevation.

Only played it once but it was in great shape. This was in Early March when the rye is very flush.

A course that doesn't get brought up too much on these threads is Legend Trail. I really enjoyed playing it.

FWIW, I played Southern Dunes earlier this year and didn't find it too tough. I thought it was a very fair course if you hit good shots. Probably more traps than any course I've ever played though.

Lived in Phoenix for a year in 2018. Played a ton of golf and Ak-Chin Southern Dunes was my favorite. Unfortunately, I played it in the summer so the conditions were really good, but not the great overseed that you're used to seeing in the fall/winter/spring in that area.

October will be so/so, since that's right after they seed. November-April is just perfection

I liked Talking Stick when I was out there last year. There's two courses there.

My favorite though is Southern Dunes.

Also liked Whirlwind as there are two courses there too.

Have you played any of these in May and if so how were the course conditions and how hot was it ? Looking to go at some point in a shoulder season. Thanks.

Played at the Phoenician in Scottsdale on Tuesday. My first time to golf in the area and I was absolutely amazed. Cost $80 and it was the nicest greens and fairways I have ever played.

good bump....Me and three buddies are headed to Scottsdale in May for Thurs-Sunday trip.

Looking to play one or two great/higher end courses, and then filling in with some of the other good ones without breaking the bank. From what I've read it seems like even the average courses are still excellent?
