Hey fellas - I'm planning a bachelor party for my buddy in July. We have rented a house 5 minutes away from both Lighthouse Country Club and the Legends golf course, and wanted to get input on which we should play for a Friday mid-morning round. While course layout and conditions are the most important aspects to our group of 8, other details about suitability for a bachelor party (beverage options,etc.), pace of play, rates, etc. would also be appreciated.

It's been a few months since I've played up there but I think the Lighthouse layout is much better.

I like lighthouse a lot, and it's super cheap

Great place. Great people. Fun course.

Delaware is 15 min from kingsland.

I haven't played lighthouse. Legends is not well maintained.

Really? I played it in late April maybe and it was in phenomenal shape.

Legends is a pretty big golf course and in my opinion has some very well designed holes. I have never gone there and not enjoyed it. And I have never seen it in bad shape.

Never been to Lighthouse but clearly need to.

I love Delaware Springs. Fun course and if you are hitting it straight it is very getable.

Or just be a baller and buy a lot in Escondido so you can play there

We had a Ryder Cup style tournament with a bunch of guys over Memorial Day at Legends. It was in pretty good shape, but the course is definitely nothing special. Never been to lighthouse but I've heard that it's basically a pitch and putt even from the tips. Maxed out at 6,000 yards or something like that. At least at Legends you can hit a driver

What tees did you play from?

Pretty sure lighthouse is about 6500 from the tips. While not long, not 6000 either.

Yea I have never been to Lighthouse, but Legends is no walk in the park from the tips either. Especially if there is a hint of wind. All of the par 5s are really good and two par 3s are well over 200 yards. And the toughest is one of the shorter ones.

Play Legends from 7200 yards and get back to me.

I got no business playing legends from 7200. But have played it about 30 times. Fun course and worth playing (even after they ruined the 2 best holes). But it's much more straightforward than lighthouse. I think Lighthouse is the better, more interesting layout and requires more thought (at least for a player like me).

No worries. You should give Lighthouse a try next time you're in the area. Fun track.
