Bushnell rangefinder error

I've had my rangefinder (Bushnell V3) for just over 2 years. It recently gave me a "1888Y" error message.

After looking it up on the intrawebs it looks to be a semi-common occurrence and represents a digital error "the motherboard". The customer service representative confirmed that as well if it wasn't the battery or if I didn't know how to use it correctly.

After carefully considering his words and triple guessing myself I know that it's not the battery and it's not the lack of understanding how to use it. I was informed that since it doesn't fall into the 2 year warranty period I'm out of luck. I did press him, kindly of course, to see if there was any kind of help they give customers. He said, "Of course we would give you a 60$ credit." Nice and all, but guess I'm spoiled by Callaway/Odyssey's Customer service where they've just totally replaced gear.

Anyone had better luck with Bushnell even with an expired 2 year warranty? Had any better luck with other rangefinder companies?

Weird you got an error
I had a bushnell from 2006 that was still going strong until I lost it last year.
But most stuff that has a 2 year warranty usually your are SOL, maybe press them on a 10% discount on one order in addition to the $60

Cannot help you with the error, but it took me airmailing the first two greens a couple of weeks ago before I realized the setting for yards had been changed to meters.

If you are very mechanically inclined you can pop open the case and see if there are any burned out resistors on the board. If so you can check the type. Pull it. And solder in a new one.

Worst case scenario it's still broken.

This won't help you, but Leupold has been great to me. I had a very unfortunate incident that wind took my push cart into a creek with my rangefinder and they replaced it for free even though that wasn't covered by warranty.

I have the same problem. Pulled my Bushnell out last weekend and got the 1888Y reading. It is more than tow years old. Did you ever find a solution?

Wouldn't it be the other way around? 150 yds = 137 m

This happened to me a few months back. No idea how it got switched to meters; but, it took me 9 holes to realize it. I kept coming up a club short on every approach. There were a few that I thought would be perfect...nope.

Yes. And my playing partner who I was blaming pointed that out on the spot. Made me feel even dumber.

Seeking pins with the range finder is a given. Next time you are playing your home course and playing those few difficult holes that balloon score on you more times than not, I suggest you use the range finder to mark hazards then lay up to those hazards that guard the hole's par. Find your self out of trouble with a possible up and down and escape with a par, at worst a bogey. Golf is a chess game, beat the course!

That is how the low handicapper does it...including your favorite golfing champ .

Happy Golfing!
