my last two rounds have been a disaster around the green. I'll blame the recent punching of the greens for my terrible short game yesterday, but thats a feel good story only.

Problem is that the only chipping and putting facility I was aware of around me was Bear Creek.

I know there is a putting green at Houston National, but nothing for chips.

Anyone know of a good short game facility in the vicinity of Hwy 6 and West Little York?

It's a little bit of a hike, but Blackhorse has a really nice practice area and a nice big chipping/bunker green by the driving range. It's where I go when I have an hour to burn.

I actually live 3 minutes from Houston National, but it's worth the drive to me.

Pinecrest won't be there much longer.

You know something you can share?

It's been for sale for about a year now, and seeing as I'm right down the street I'm curious what happens to the property.

If there's a par 3 course anywhere near you become a member and play a lot. That's what helped my short game years ago and I am still reaping the benefits.

had the challenger course at bear creek for that. Not the best shape, but lots of par 3's and short approaches on par 4/5.

It's under contract. Expected to be an unknown mix of multi/single family and commercial development.

Thanks for the info. Guess I need to get out and go play it soon.

Actually looks in the best shape it's been in a while. Greens even look like they're better than some of the other courses around town.

Houston is such a ****ing black hole of golf

Cypress Lakes I'm sure has a chipping area, Longwood I believe does as well but not totally sure. BTW, Cypress Lakes range was taking a beating it was tough finding a patch of grass to hit off of so they just recently installed mats to give the grass a break. Cypress Lakes get plenty of traffic on the range from the local high school teams and the Prarie View A&M team.

I'm a little farther north off 249 and cypress wood and joined Raveneaux country club for that reason. Driving range, wedge range, 2 putting greens and a chipping green. Great place to practice! Course is tough as well with small greens on hills

yeah for $60 or so a round.

There are some really nice courses but they are parking lots.

Houston is pretty bad for golf unless you have a beer gut and all day to waste.

Live in the Heights, where do you play?

It seems like I have to go almost to 99 to get to anywhere.

There's a nice little course a short ride from the Heights called Memorial Park. Give it a shot, i think you'll like it.

played memorial twice this year always crowded and never in good condition. Plus the lottery system is nearly impossible. I usually play cypress lakes because their greens are actually decent. I would play fish creek but it is in bfe. Cypress wood is great but expensive and a parking lot.

Playing black horse from a ideal golfer voucher this weekend.
