I'm heading to Glen Rose to play golf Wednesday and Thursday at Squaw Creek with some other coaches and I think we'll have just enough time to stop at Stephenville and play Legends. The price is right.Is it worth stopping for?

Are you passing through Stephenville? Staying in Glen Rose? Just curious as Legends really isn't worth putting it into your trip, might be some better options based on your schedule.

Playing at Squaw Valley all day Wednesday and Thursday. We can leave school just early enough to stop at Stephenville for Hard Eight and nine holes before it gets dark. Heading south on 281, its the most logical spot to stop.

It's probably not logistical in your case, but SugarTree near Lipan is a nice course as well if you ever have time to check it out.

Sugar Tree is one of my favorites, I get to play there 10-15 times a year. Its out of the way for what we are doing this time. Thanks, good suggestion.

The front 9 at Legends is definitely better than the back, and I am guessing the bbq is the reason for going through Stephenville. Going through Lipan, Granbury or even Weatherford would be better options, but then of course you're missing out on Hard Eight.

I would either play Sugartree in Lipan, or somewhere in Granbury, and just eat at Hammonds bbq in Glen Rose.

There is also an awesome 9 hole course in Tolar (between sville & granbury), but I think it's pretty exclusive to get on...

Lefraud - are you talking about Star Hollow? I got to play there a few times, buts it's been a long time ago. We are coming from Wichita Falls - that's why 281. Don't have but 2-3 hours on Tuesday afternoon, figured to eat and play a quick nine in S' ville. Thanks

Bigfoot - Don't stress out. I'm just an over paid, under worked, high school golf coach. Me and a few buddies
take a day or two off throughout the year for golf. Sometimes we go to Austin, sometimes Southeast Oklahoma area, & sometimes out in West Texas. I just happen to set this one up for Squaw Valley.Looks like the weather is going to be perfect for December.

Ahh, I figured you were a tennis coach going south in 281 to Horsehshoe Bay for convention. There's a bunch of coaches who take off all week and play golf on the way down.

I live in Granbury and play Squaw every once in a while. Great courses and almost always in great shape.

Do you know their special going right now with toy and bike donations? Could save you some cash. May want to call and ask if you haven't heard. They do a lot of food bank and toy donation discounts this time of year. Another reason it's one of my favorite courses.

Yep, I get their emails. Not a ton of money for HS golf coaches - but the perks are great. After 15 years, I know people at some of the best golf courses in Texas & Southern Oklahoma. Haven' had to pay many green fees. Ya'll have fun.
