DIY

A new grip is, what, $5 each. A bottle of odorless mineral spirits is $5. Tape is another $5-10.

The last shop I used for some club work charged me for the grip (with markup) plus $3 per for labor. What should have been about a $5-6 job per club wound up being north of $10. That adds up if you're re-gripping a whole set.

The hardest part about the whole job is cutting the old grip off...and that's stupid easy.

D & J Golf do a fine job.

I second the motion to regrip yourself. If you're doing an entire set it can save you money, plus once you get the hang of it, it doesn't take that long.

DIY is probably easy, and cheaper. With that said, I gladly pay the $2 a club my Golf, Etc...charges to do grips. $20 bucks (plus grips) is definitely worth it, my opinion of course...

When I worked at. Golf. Etc in CS instillation was included with price of grip. But from what I understand they went out of business

If the business marks up the price of the grip too high, the "free" service isn't "free" any longer.

I've shopped around for services, before. It's funny how a $5 grip quickly becomes an $8-10 grip "with free installation". Some places are more transparent in their pricing than others.

If you have to shop online for supplies, then the shipping costs might push you in the direction of a local business who can just do the entire job for you. I live within reasonable driving distance of Golfsmith, so I can run over at lunch and get my supplies pretty easily.

Just be careful when shopping around. A re-grip job really is easy to DIY. But if you're not interested in doing it yourself, lots of folks would be happy to do it for you.

last time I went to golf etc to get re-gripped it was $5 more than if I bought the grips on-line and did it myself (probably cheaper as I didnt have the tape yet. That was for 3-pw. But they are closed now (college station location).

Dallas at D&J golf near Briarcrest CC does a great job with all club repair, lie changes, etc. He just installed a couple of shafts for my son and the main cost was to buy the shafts. The install I believe was less than $10!! My vote goes to D&J

I've bought a couple of grip kits from here.

He sells all different brands, kits include 13 grips, precut grip tape, solvent, and a shaft clamp.

No idea what it costs to get clubs regripped by someone else, so i'm not really sure how the prices compare..
