waggle before swing

I'm noticing that matt kucher waggles by picking his club head up off the ground, has a good 3 second pause before starting his swing.

I thought this was interesting has I generally start my backswing with the club head on the ground. Does anybody else do the same?

I also keep my clubhead lightly on the ground before the swing

I rest my club head on the ground and then pick it up just slightly before starting the backswing. I've seen guys pick the club head up about 6 in before swinging... Works for them but I'd never strike the ball cleanly. To each his own.

Tried this at the range and hit more than my fair share fat. Seems like it caused me to come in too steep

I tried this for a while years ago, but then eventually realized it was encouraging me to take the club back too far inside.
