Getting back into golf

I've played golf my whole life. It was all I knew through high school.. and I played every day while spending every late evening on the green behind my parents house mastering short game. I played about 10-20 times my freshman year at A&M, and then maybe about 5-10 times a year since.

I have not followed club technology, ball technology, courses, the tour, or really anything to do with golf since about 2005. But the itch is ALWAYS there and it has now come back.

Well I just invested in a new 8.5 loft Titleist 913 D3 stiff flex driver after hitting a friends on Thursday and literally adding 30 yards to my drive. First new club since 2002.

I just decided I'm going to join Briarcest CC in Bryan and commit to playing again 2-4 times a week depending on how busy work is. I have two decent playing buddies but one is at traditions. I was wondering if anyone here is a member at Briarcest or looking for more golf buddies in general. I would really really like to join Traditions after playing it Thursday, but I just cant fork over the in town membership dough at this point.

I consider myself a seasoned golfer. I know when and how to make all the shots in the book. I just haven't played enough to consistently have my timing down. The swing has always been there though, and the consistency will come back. Just glad to be able to dedicate myself again.

Any pointers from anyone else who took significant time off?

Don't know why you want to pick it back up again. Golf sucks.

Mazag, I was in exactly the same bout...even ur short game story is pretty spot on. I came back and thought my game would be there the same but it wasn't...I could shoot 81 on every course and didn't matter if it was from the tips or the wonens tee...I went back and got a few lessons and within a couple months I was hitting it well again...so my revonendation would be get a lesson or two so u can have one specific thing to work on not just trying to feel it out on the range EVERY round
