Considering a new driver but more interested in keeping it straight rather than distance. Distance went out the window after two recent back surgeries. Any suggestions?

I can't recommend a particular driver, but I can tell you what I did once I realized my days of playing twice a week with several range visits went out the window. About six weeks ago my wife and I had our first kid, an awesome baby girl. So I decided to sell my 45" driver with an extra stiff shaft and go with something that wouldn't let me average 290 off the tee but give me more consistency with less practice.

My new driver is an R1 head set at 10.5*, pro launch blue shaft which helps add loft to your launch angle and I cut the driver down to 44". The shorter driver cuts down on my swing speed by about 5mph but i'm able to hit the center of the club head more consistently. I'm really enjoying the confidence of knowing i'm going to strike it well. I did lose about 15-20 yards however.

I just got back from a fitting at golfsmith, hit just about everything they had as far as drivers go. The Ping G25 was easily the most forgiving out of everything I hit. I'd check that out, or last year's G20.

Ultimately ended up with a SLDR. Not quite as forgiving as the G25, but not far off. Averaged about 20 yards further with the SLDR than anything else I hit though.
