I'm looking for a used cart in the 2000-3000 range. Looking on the net renders all kinds of carts in that range. My question is why are some carts that look really nice and of a newer model (say 2008 and newer) posted so cheap?

What am I missing? I always believe you get what you pay so I'm a bit skeptical. I would appreciate it if someone could shed some light on the subject. Thanks

Always assume the batteries need to be replaced when figuring. Everyone advertises that the batteries are good. That will be $5-$700 depending on the cart.

I bought a used cart last fall. Judging by your username you are in the Austin area. I bought it from Ennis Golf Carts in Leander. He had the best prices by far. It was also a very basic cart, not a blinged out version like he advertises on his site. Came with new batteries, replaced the tires (not new but very good condition compared to what was on it) and really cleaned it up. After pricing a rear seat and extended roof online, his prices for aftermarket items could not be beat either. Having him throw those items on brought the price to around $3500 I believe. You may have a hard time staying south of $3k.

I went with a Club Car which I believe is typically viewed as a better cart than E-Z-Go, although you find more EZ's on the market. And if you are price shopping obviously the gas models are quite a bit more expensive, but I assume you have noticed that. Extra options really drive the price up quickly, so make sure you are comparing apples-to-apples as well. Not sure I have much more advice. Best of luck.

Marooned - I bought my car from the place in liberty hill.
its run by 2 Ag brothers.
I bought a used cart (EZ GO), but they put a new body, batteries, and wheels on it.
looked brand new when I bought it..
and saved some money...

had to change the body because my club requires all carts to look alike.

i'd check that place out...

Marooned,

I think you play out of Berry Creek if I remember correctly. My good friend Trevor is now the supt at Georgetown CC. Go see him if you have a chance. He took a hiatus from growing grass and was in equipment sales. He might still have a line on a deal or could certainly point you in the right direction.

Where are you located? I got the hookup at Fairway Carts in Salado if you are nearby.

I would recommend Club Car over EZ GO. I have a club car and have a few buddies with EZ GOs. I am much happier with my cart than they are with theirs. In fact, one friend sold his EZ GO and got a Club Car after seeing how mine performed versus his. Club Cars are more expensive, but like you said, you get what you pay for.
