I'd like to take my wife for a golf weekend sometime this summer. A stay and play would be nice but may be out of our budget. We would like to stay 2-3 nights and play 2 rounds. Budget is probably about $250-$300 a night for golf and lodging for both of us.

We live near ft worth and are flexible to go anywhere within about a 4 hour drive.

Giddings Country Club. We have a really nice America's Best Value Inn that is within your budget for lodging. Easy commute to La Grange to play their awesome course also or the State Park in Bastrop for the weekend rate of $25.

Barton Creek-Now Omni...went there and then went to Oasis for dinner one night last Aug with my wife...little more expensive but nice

L'Auberge in Lake Charles as well, 2 courses(the resort and Gray Plantation) and a 21+lazy river is nice...

Agree with Horseshoe Bay as well, only been there on guys trips so no feedback for the lady

L'Auberge. Never heard of it. Looks like a solid buddies trip destination.

Stay away from Wolfdancer. Just played a tourney out there in late February and the course was in just ok condition. The sand traps were TERRIBLE, which is really bad considering they have them all over the place on that course. Also, cart girls charge $6 for a bud lite. That course seems like it is cutting corners, would not recommend for the price they are charging.

L'Auberge: took 12 of us in a limo bus from Houston there, that way we could drink and play cards on the way. Gambled fri night and then played 36 sat. Gambled again sat night and the bus came back to take us home on sunday...was perfect that no one had to drive.

Going as a couple is good too, nice food and the lazy river is sweet. NO KIDS allowed

May look into Links at Land's End out on Lake Fork. Stayed and played a weekend there a couple years ago and really enjoyed myself. Really cool layout along some peninsulas of the lake and some decent food back at the lodge.

Course out in east Texas. Sorry can't remember the name hoping it spurs some suggestions. Not the lake fork course. I've heard it is really nice. If I remember the name I'll post.

By the way, if you do choose horseshoe bay, they have 3 private courses. One of them, ramrock, is ver difficult. The SWC championships, the Texas State Amateur, and the Texas State Open have all been played there. It is one of the hardest courses I have ever played and I dont think it matters what tees you play from. If your into that then suit yourself. I love playing it and look forward to the challenge. But I wouldnt describe it as fun or relaxing. Play Slick if you want to relax

This may or may not be it...

Rayburn Country stay and play deals

Recently re-done course and clubhouse that is quite nice, great S&P rates, and beautiful area.

I'd say Horsehoe Bay as well. The Marriott has a nice pool and you might even be able to have someone take you out on the lake. You can play Apple & Slick Rock.

That private Nickalus course is badass. If you know of someone who is a member, play there. Escondido is awesome as well. Unfortunately both are private.

ElCheAg: the pro's name was Kurt, but I believe he is no longer there. They were very helpful in setting up TT and I also did some CTP and long drive holes for our group. I highly recommend it.

I know you said Texas, but you might consider Hot Springs Arkansas (per Google maps is 5 hours fro Ft. Worth).

Never played there, but its a neat town.
