Anyone played these irons? They get some pretty awesome reviews and seem to be a nice players/game improvement combo iron.

Industry leader for mid-high handicappers IMO.

I think Callaway and Taylormade release about 15 iron sets a year that are geared towards high handicappers

I think jj means that the 800 pros are not necessarily for high handicappers. I'm pretty sure Charles Howell III had them in his bag for 1/2 a season.

The non-pro JPX 800 (and JPX 825) are more of a GI iron than the pro model.

Mizuno makes some great irons.

edit: Or maybe jj means he doesn't think Mizuno is the industry leader in the mid - high handicap department. I would think everyone has an opinion and is entitled to one.

I consider the peers of the 800/825s to be AP1s and R11 etc. I personally think Mizuno makes a better club at this playability point than competing brands. There are certainly clubs with more forgiveness and length that would better suit a beginning player, and there are more workable clubs for a better player as well. I like the way the mizunos walk the line between the two with these clubs.
*Full disclosure: I don't own, nor have I ever owned these clubs. I do currently play MP-59s though.

Sweet, glad to hear more good feedback. Gonna head to golfsmith in Austin to hopefully hit them off some real grass.

I just recently decided between the JPX-825 Pro and the MP-H4s. Both clubs felt great, but I just consistently seemed to hit the MP-H4s just a bit better and more importantly felt better in my hands, stance, etc. So, I made a huge plunge thinking, if in 30 days I decide against them I'm coming back straight for the 825s no question about it.
