I've watched bits and pieces of the Senior Players Championship the last couple of days and noticed this. Right before or at the top of his swing his head abruptly rotates about 15 degrees to his right. Makes you wonder how he or anyone else can strike a golf ball with this going on. But he's playing well.

I watched him on the regular tour for years and never noticed this, it must be recent. It's really odd, I'll post a vid if I can find one.

More important question: Are those bluejeans that Duffy Waldorf is sweating out?

What an ill-advised choice of color. They look like blue jeans (but aren't) and put a world class case of swamp ass on full display. Also, a tub of lard like Duffy doesn't need to be cramming himself into tight pants.

And yep, Nicklaus would do something similar, although it was almost like the trigger to start his backswing. My old man didn't hit the ball anything like Nicklaus, but being a guy that took up golf in the 1960's, he did emulate that same head tilt as Nicklaus (same timing).

Rory does a head turn thing to the right on his downswing, right before impact. Not really the same thing, but I've always thought it was an interesting move.

Looking at that video, man if that was me there's now doubt I'd whiff the shot. Maybe I could get used to it later and make contact.

Nicklaus did swivel his head to the right just before his takeaway but it stayed still during the swing. Duval and Sorenstam seemed to look "up" and toward the target right before impact. But I've never seen anything like Huston at such a critical point in the swing and done so abruptly.
