Thinking of joining but wondered if anyone has any insight. Any members on here?

I am not a member but "loves me some" Westwood CC. get out there about every three months. Keith Foster redid it a few years back. Walkable golf course, new club house. There is a lot to like about it. Only negative thing is the neighborhood coming in...although the church of "Higher Dimension" is better than the old crap apartments that were there.

I did a trial membership there in 2011.

Love the course and facilities. Great course to walk.

I really liked that the course was almost always empty. Could show up pretty much whenever and have the course to myself.

The membership was a little old for me. Nice guys, but just not a very fun group, from my perspective. Tough to explain. In the end, this is what steered me away.

One of the best pure golf clubs in the area. Haven't seen the new clubhouse, but even without it I would join if it were a little closer to home and I had an extra $35k or so burning a hole in my pocket.

Course is a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it. Played several rounds with a friend who did the trial membership. For a golf club, I thought it was really nice. It was always wide open and easy to get on.

My friend said the same thing about the other members though, so he didn't reup.

I've recently moved back to Houston from overseas and am looking to join a golf club. I live in Highland Village and am in the office in Sugar Land about three days a week, so Westwood intrigues me.

Are there any current members on the board that can provide insight on the club's culture? I'm 34, 35 in July, and engaged, no children. Mainly looking to get in a few holes on the way home from work, as well as utilize the practice facilities.

For what it's worth, I'm a 14ish handicapper who enjoys a few too many cocktails on the course to ever be consistent.
